If you’re tired of cramped electric scooters that feel more like tech gadgets than actual vehicles, the Ather Rizta is basically the answer to every Indian family's prayer. Ather took everything they learned from the sporty 450X and put it into a much bigger, softer and more practical package. It isn't about being the fastest off the line anymore; it’s about having a seat that actually fits two adults and enough storage to handle a full grocery run. Starting at around Rs 1.11 lakh, this is Ather’s play for the "Activa" crowd who want to go electric without giving up on comfort or build quality.
Range and Battery: What You Actually Get
Ather offers two battery choices for the electric scooter based on how far you really need to go. The 2.9 kWh version (found in the S and Z trims) is
perfect for city use, giving you about 123 km of claimed range for smaller pack.
If you’ve got a longer office run, the 3.7 kWh battery on the top-end Z model bumps that up to 159 km. You’re capped at a top speed of 80 km/h, which is plenty for city flyovers. The "SmartEco" mode is a lifesaver here, as it manages your power automatically to make sure you don't end up stranded.
Space for Everything and Everyone
The first thing you notice about the Rizta is the sheer size of the seat—it’s easily the longest in its class, so you aren't constantly bumping into your pillion. But the real highlight is the storage. You get 34 litres under the seat, but if you add the optional front "frunk," you’re looking at a massive 56 litres of total space. The floorboard is also wider and flatter than the 450 series, so you can actually carry a bag between your feet without feeling like your knees are hitting your chin.

Safety Tech and What You Pay
Safety on Indian roads is tricky, and Ather has added some "hidden" tech to help. There’s "SkidControl," which is basically traction control to stop the back wheel from sliding on gravel or wet monsoon roads. They also included "FallSafe," which kills the motor if the bike tips over, so it won’t jerk forward when you’re trying to pick it up.
Price-wise, you’re looking at roughly Rs 1.11 lakh for the base S and up to Rs 1.29 lakh for the top Z variant. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. It’s a bit of a premium, but for the peace of mind and space, most owners find it worth the jump.
