Tata Motors may not be done with the Tigor just yet. Patent images of what appears to be the updated Tigor have surfaced online, giving us an early look at the compact sedan's next round of changes. At first glance, the biggest difference is obvious: the car looks sharper than the version currently sold in showrooms. That's significant because the Tigor has gone several years without a major visual overhaul while other Tata models have moved to the brand's newer design language. If these patent drawings accurately preview the production car, the facelift could end up being the most noticeable Tigor update in recent years.
Has Tata Completely Redesigned The Tigor?
The patent filing for the new Tata Tigor points to a facelift rather than an all-new generation. The basic shape remains familiar,
but several exterior panels and design details appear to have been revised. The front end looks substantially different from the current car. The grille treatment has changed, the bumper appears new, and the lighting signature seems closer to what we've already seen on some of Tata's newer products. Around the back, the taillamps and bumper design also appear to have been updated. In simple terms, it still looks like a Tigor. It just looks newer.
What About The Interior And Features?
That's where things get interesting because the patent images don't tell the whole story. Tata Motors hasn't shown the cabin yet, so anything beyond the exterior would be speculation. However, recent launches from the company suggest buyers can reasonably expect some changes inside. A larger touchscreen, updated software as well as a revised dashboard layout would not be surprising. Whether those upgrades make it to every variant remains to be seen.
Is It Worth Waiting For The Facelift?
If you're already planning to buy a Tigor, the answer might be yes. The current car isn't old, but the patent images suggest the facelift could look considerably fresher. That's important in a market where buyers often compare compact sedans with similarly priced SUVs and hatchbacks.
There is still no official launch date and Tata hasn't disclosed mechanical details. For now, the design patent simply tells us one thing: the Tigor is set for a noticeable makeover and it may arrive sooner rather than later.
