Ahead of the Republic Day 2026 parade and related events in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu’s official state car, the armoured Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard, has drawn attention for its role

in secure presidential transport. This limousine combines high-end engineering with factory-built armouring to protect the head of state. It is part of the presidential fleet used for formal occasions, ceremonial duties and official travel, offering advanced ballistic and blast resistance, run-flat capabilities and specialised safety systems. Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard: An Overview

The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard is an armoured limousine produced by Mercedes-Benz’s Guard division for government officials and dignitaries. It is based on an extended Maybach platform with a longer wheelbase than a standard S-Class as well as an increased cabin space and structural reinforcement. Unlike aftermarket armouring, this version is built with armour integration at the factory to ensure that the suspension, braking and body components can handle the added weight. The Pullman Guard is deployed in official convoys and for high-security duties such as presidential appearances during national events.

Armouring And Safety Features

The Pullman Guard meets high ballistic protection standards typically rated at VR9 or VR10 to withstand rifle fire and explosive threats. Its body structure uses a combination of high-strength steel, specialised alloys and multi-layered ballistic glass windows several centimetres thick. Cabin Layout

Inside, the Pullman Guard features a partitioned layout separating the driver’s area from the rear cabin. Rear seating is designed for secure, controlled communication and comfort during long official journeys.
