The Ducati Desmo450 EDS has arrived on the international scene as the Italian brand's first enduro. It is a street-legal enduro motorcycle and is quite different in terms of chassis, hardware, and mechanical components from its pure track-focused Motorcross sibling, the Desmo450 MX. Being developed particularly to meet the challenges of off-road terrain, the bike comes packed with advanced features, including an 18-inch rear wheel, predictive traction control, heavy skid plates, and a larger transparent fuel tank. The Desmo450 EDS will reach select European dealerships from July 2026. This will be followed by availability in other global markets later. Although Ducati has not confirmed an India launch yet, the motorcycle could eventually make
its way to the country through the brand's premium off-road range. Here's all you need to know about Ducati's first enduro.
Ducati Desmo450 EDS: Engine
The Ducati EDS is based on the Desmo450 MX motocross bike. However, the Italian bikemaker has extensively reworked some parts to make the EDS suitable for enduro riding. One of the biggest attractions of the bike is its 449.6cc single-cylinder engine (also found on the MX), with Ducati's signature Desmodromic valve timing system, which makes it the only motorcycle in its segment to use this. To make it enduro riding-capable, Ducati has tuned the engine to deliver stronger low- and mid-range torque. This enables riders to maintain traction and control across difficult surfaces. The motorcycle also gets a six-speed gearbox with enduro-specific ratios, revised cooling hardware with an electric fan, and a larger fuel tank to improve usability on long off-road rides.
Ducati Desmo450 EDS: Chassis, Suspension And Electronics
The bike makes use of the brand's lightweight aluminium twin-spar frame. But it has also been modified specifically for enduro applications. To be precise, Ducati claims the frame weighs less than 9kg and uses just 11 major components, helping reduce overall weight while preserving rigidity.
Suspension is looked after by fully adjustable 49mm Showa upside-down forks with 310mm of travel, and a Showa monoshock at the rear. The setup was developed with input from multiple enduro world champion Antoine Meo. Braking comes from Brembo calipers working with Galfer discs at both ends.
The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination wrapped in Metzeler Six Days Extreme tyres. Buyers opting for the Ducati Performance racing kit can also access advanced electronics such as Ducati Traction Control, Launch Control, Engine Brake Control, and a Quickshifter.

Ducati Desmo450 EDS: Here's When You Can Expect It In India
Ducati has announced that the EDS will first go on sale across selected European markets from July 2026. The distribution to other regions is slated post that period. While the company has not announced an India launch timeline, the growing interest in adventure and off-road motorcycling here could make the Desmo450 EDS a niche but an appealing addition to the automaker's Indian model range. Upon its launch, the EDS will be one of the most technologically advanced enduro motorcycles available in the country.
