Mahindra has expanded its SUV portfolio with the launch of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, placing it directly against established rivals such as the Tata Safari. Both SUVs target buyers looking for a premium three-row layout, strong road presence and modern technology. While the Safari has been a familiar nameplate in this space, the XUV 7XO arrives as a newer alternative with a feature-heavy approach. Mahindra XUV 7XO Vs Tata Safari: Price And Variant Positioning
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is priced from Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) for
the base petrol variant, with diesel versions starting higher and extending up to Rs 24.92 lakh for the top-spec AX7L diesel-manual under an introductory offer.
In comparison, the Tata Safari starts at around Rs 14.66 lakh and going up to approximately Rs 25.96 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant. This makes the XUV 7XO the more accessible option in the three-row SUV space. Tata will soon announce the prices for Safari's petrol variants.

Design-wise, the XUV 7XO follows Mahindra’s newer SUV styling with a wide grille, sharp lighting elements and a contemporary stance. Inside, it stands out with a triple-screen dashboard layout, panoramic sunroof and a tech-focused cabin design.
The Tata Safari carries a more rugged and traditional SUV look, paired with a spacious interior that features a layered dashboard, large touchscreen infotainment system and premium upholstery options. Both SUVs offer six- and seven-seat configurations depending on the variant.
Mahindra XUV 7XO Vs Tata Safari: Engine And Performance Options
Under the hood, the XUV 7XO offers a wider choice of engines. It gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 197 bhp and 380 Nm, along with a 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering 182 bhp and up to 450 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include 6-speed manual and automatic units, with all-wheel drive available on select diesel trims.
The Tata Safari, meanwhile, is offered only with a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. As mentioned before, a petrol variant with a 1.5-litre Hyperion turbocharged unit, will be launched soon. It will put out 168 bhp and 280 Nm.

The XUV 7XO focuses heavily on technology, offering features such as Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, triple digital displays and advanced connected car technology.
