The GST 2.0 revision was supposed to jack up the price of Harley-Davidson X440 by close to Rs 20,000, but as per its official website, it still carries an unchanged price of Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Denim version. Infact, the mid-spec Vivid too, carries the earlier price tag of Rs 2.60 lakh, while the top-of-the-line S trim continues at Rs 2.80 lakh. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. This also signifies that Harley-Davidson, along with partner Hero MotoCorp, has rather internalised the increased GST-related cost instead of pushing it through onto customers, so that X440 remains within its original price bracket.

Why The Price Didn’t Change
Under GST
2.0, two-wheelers above 350cc are falling into the 40% tax slab, which was earlier calculated as 28% GST plus cess. This could have increased the price of Harley-Davidson X440 by approximately Rs 20,000 on its ex-showroom price. But Harley-Davidson and Hero seem to be absorbing this extra tax burden so that they can keep their offering competitive with very strong rivals in the market — Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Classic 350, which is the bestselling motorcycle in this segment.
Harley X440: Variant-Wise Prices
The following table reflects the detailed variant-wise ex-showroom prices for the X440.
Harley X440 Variant | Prices |
X440 Denim | Rs 2,39,500 |
X440 Vivid | Rs 2,59,500 |
X440 S | Rs 2,79,500 |
What It Means For Buyers
The steady prices will probably come as a surprise to potential buyers who were keyed up for higher costs after GST 2.0. With the price tag still between Rs 2.40 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom), the X440 holds onto its great value with no tax-related jump attached to it; buyers can confidently book or purchase this motorcycle without any extra costs hanging over their heads. Dealerships are expected to honour these prices, but prospective owners should confirm with local outlets as registration and insurance charges remain state-dependent.
