Maruti Suzuki has once again proven why it is India’s largest and most trusted carmaker. In calendar year (CY) 2025, the company produced a record-breaking over 22.55 lakh vehicles, which marks its highest-ever
annual production. It means Maruti Suzuki deployed more than 22 lakh cars in just one year, which caters to Indian buyers, export markets and even other manufacturers through OEM supplies.
This achievement is even more special because it is the second consecutive year Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 20 lakh production mark, as it highlights not just strong customer demand, but also the growing strength of India’s automobile manufacturing ecosystem.

The top five models that helped Maruti Suzuki achieve this milestone by production volume in CY 2025 were Fronx, Baleno, Swift, Dzire and Ertiga. These are familiar names on Indian roads which are loved for their affordability, fuel efficiency, low maintenance costs, and wide service network.
Commenting on this achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the record production was possible due to the dedication of employees and strong partnerships with suppliers. He also highlighted the company’s high level of localisation, meaning many parts are sourced from within India. This helps keep costs in check while maintaining global quality standards and strengthens the country’s manufacturing capabilities.
Maruti Suzuki’s journey started in 1983 with its first plant in Gurugram, Haryana and over the years, the company expanded steadily, setting up facilities in Manesar and Kharkhoda (Haryana) and later integrating its Gujarat plant into operations. Today, Maruti Suzuki manufactures 17 models and over 650 variants, covering hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and MPVs.
Looking to the future, Maruti Suzuki plans to increase its production capacity to 4 million units per year. This expansion aims to meet rising domestic demand and strengthen exports, aligning with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
This milestone is more than just a number, as it shows how an Indian carmaker continues to grow, innovate, and lead, while keeping everyday mobility affordable for millions of people.
