BYD India has announced an important update for buyers interested in its premium electric SUV, the BYD SEALION 7, as the company has confirmed that the SUV will get costlier starting January 1, 2026. However, customers who book the car before December 31, 2025 can still buy it at the current ex-showroom prices.
The BYD SEALION 7 is sold in two variants and both are powered by a large 82.56 kWh battery pack- SEALION 7 Premium is priced at Rs 48,90,000 (ex-showroom) and SEALION 7 Performance is priced at Rs 54,90,000 (ex-showroom). Both versions offer strong performance and long range, which makes the SUV a popular option among premium EV buyers.
Since its first public appearance earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the BYD
SEALION 7 has quickly gained attention. BYD India has already sold over 2,000 units, which shows that the demand for premium electric SUVs is rising in the country.
According to Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles at BYD India, the SEALION 7 has “struck a chord with customers across India.” He added that the price hike is planned for early 2026 but customers can still enjoy the current pricing till the end of December 2025.

What makes the BYD SEALION 7 so popular is its combination of design, technology, safety and performance. It uses BYD’s latest iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaption Control) and CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology. The SUV’s famous Blade Battery is built directly into the chassis, which improves safety, handling and interior space.
The SEALION 7 also boasts a 5-Star NCAP safety rating, which is a big plus for family buyers.
The Performance variant of the BYD Sealion 7 is built for buyers who want powerful acceleration and a sportier driving feel, as it can go from 0–100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, which makes it one of the quickest electric SUVs in its class. Despite this strong performance, it still delivers a range of 542 km on a full charge and it packs 390 kW of power with 690 Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the Premium variant is tuned for a more balanced driving experience focused on efficiency and comfort, as it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, which is still quick for a premium electric SUV. This variant offers a slightly higher range of 567 km, making it ideal for long-distance travel with fewer charging stops. It produces 230 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque, providing smooth performance suitable for everyday use while maintaining strong electric capability. The SUV measures 4,830 mm in length with a 2,930 mm wheelbase, which offers generous cabin space and a strong road presence.
In India, BYD now operates 47 showrooms in 40 cities, which makes it easier for buyers to access the brand. Globally, BYD has sold over 14 million New Energy Vehicles and has helped reduce carbon emissions massively. It remains one of the world’s most valuable auto brands and ranks #91 in the 2025 Fortune Global 500.
