Toyota has started handing over the Ebella electric SUV to customers in India, with the first delivery going out in Bhubaneswar. That's the real shift here, this isn't just a launch announcement anymore, it's an EV people are genuinely driving home now. For Indian buyers, that's worth knowing because the Ebella shares its platform, powertrain and most of its feature list with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, so you're basically getting two brand choices off the same underlying EV. Here's a closer look at what it actually costs, what battery options exist as well as what you get for that money.
How Much Does The Toyota Ebella Cost In India?
For now, only the top-spec E3 variant is actually on sale, priced at Rs 23.60 lakh for the mono-tone and Rs 23.80 lakh for dual-tone, both ex-showroom. Toyota's
confirmed two more variants, E1 and E2, but hasn't put out pricing for either yet, so if you're after a cheaper way into the Ebella range, you'll need to wait it out. On-road prices shift quite a bit by city too, sitting around Rs 24.95 lakh in places like Kolkata and Hyderabad but going up to nearly Rs 26.85 lakh in Bangalore, mostly down to how road tax differs.
What Battery And Range Does The Ebella Offer?
Right now you can only get the bigger 61kWh battery, making about 172 hp and 193 Nm, claimed at 543 km of range. A smaller 49kWh version is expected to join later, rated at 142 hp with the same 193 Nm torque and a claimed 440 km range but it hasn't actually gone on sale in India yet. Both of these are lab-tested numbers, so real-world range on Indian roads will likely come in lower, same as it does for most EVs sold here. Toyota seems to be holding the smaller, presumably cheaper 49kWh battery back for whenever the E1 or E2 trims actually launch.
What Features Come With The Ebella?
The cabin gets a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, and sliding, reclining, 40:20:40 split rear seats. There's also a JBL sound system, 12-colour ambient lighting along with a panoramic sunroof. On safety, Toyota's fitted seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS as standard on the E3 trim, putting it up against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and Tata Harrier EV in this segment.
