Maruti Suzuki Continues To Dominate (About 17.50 Lakh Units)
Maruti Suzuki has ended 2025 as the undisputed market leader, driven by consistent demand
across its hatchback, sedan, and SUV portfolio. Models like the Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Brezza, and Fronx continued to contribute high volumes. The company’s extensive dealership network, competitive pricing, and strong after-sales support helped maintain its dominance, even as competition intensified in the SUV and EV segments.
Mahindra Climbs To Second Place (About 5.81 Lakh Units)
Mahindra’s rise to the second position was one of the biggest talking points of India car sales in 2025. The brand’s strong SUV-focused strategy paid off, with sustained demand for models such as the Scorpio N, Thar, XUV700, as well as Bolero. Mahindra also benefited from improved production capacity and reduced waiting periods as this has allowed the brand to convert bookings into deliveries more effectively during the year.
Tata Motors Slips To Third Spot (About 5.52 Lakh Units)
Tata Motors finished 2025 behind Mahindra after holding the second position in previous years. While Tata continued to see steady demand for the Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Safari, and Tiago, overall growth was comparatively slower. Increased competition in the compact SUV and electric vehicle space impacted Tata’s year-end ranking, despite its strong presence in the EV segment.
Hyundai Falls To Fourth Position (About 5.50 Lakh Units)
Hyundai Motor India dropped to fourth place in the 2025 car sales rankings. Popular models like the Creta, Venue, i20, and Verna continued to perform well, but the brand faced growing pressure from newer SUV offerings by rivals.
