The Mahindra XUV 7XO is the kind of SUV that grabs attention quickly because the feature list is long and the cabin looks packed with tech. But once you start looking beyond the flashy screens and specifications, a few practical things become important. This is a large three-row SUV, and depending on which variant you pick, the ownership experience can feel very different. Engine choice, seating layout and even parking convenience will matter more in daily use than some brochure features. So before booking the XUV 7XO, here are five things buyers should actually pay attention to.
The Petrol And Diesel Feel Quite Different
Mahindra is offering the XUV 7XO with two turbocharged engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol (TGDi) unit makes around 200 bhp of maximum power and 380 Nm of peak
torque, while the 2.2-litre turbo diesel churns out up to 182 bhp and 450 Nm of maximum torque in automatic versions.
On paper, both sound strong, but they suit different types of buyers. The petrol is likely to feel smoother and quieter in city driving, while the diesel’s higher torque output should make more sense for highway trips and full-family usage. You also get manual and automatic gearbox choices depending on the variant.
Speaking of the price range, the SUV starts at Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base AX Petrol variant and goes up to Rs 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom) for the highest-spec AX7L Diesel AWD variant.
This Is Not A Small SUV
At 4,695mm long with a 2,750mm wheelbase, the XUV 7XO is properly large. That helps with cabin space, especially for three-row use, but it also means this is not the easiest SUV to manage in tight parking spots or crowded city lanes.
Mahindra offers both 6-seat and 7-seat versions. Buyers who mostly travel with family may appreciate the captain seats in the middle row, while others may prefer the extra seat in the 7-seater.
The Triple-Screen Setup Is Not Standard
A lot of the attention around the XUV 7XO comes from the dashboard itself. Higher variants get three 12.3-inch screens spread across the cabin and that changes the feel of the interior completely. The SUV also gets features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered seats and ambient lighting depending on the version. Mahindra has also added Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, which is unusual for this segment.
AWD Buyers Need To Check Variants Carefully
One thing many buyers may miss initially is that all-wheel drive is not available across the full lineup. AWD is limited to select diesel automatic variants only. So if rough-road capability or extra traction matters, variant selection becomes very important.

Lower Variants Feel Very Different
The biggest thing buyers should know is that the gap between lower and top variants is quite large. Some of the features people see online, including ADAS and the triple-screen layout, are available only in higher trims. That means choosing the right variant matters just as much as choosing the SUV itself.
