In India’s busy commuter bike market, two names have stayed in the center for years - the Honda Unicorn and the Bajaj Pulsar 150. Both are affordable, reliable and built for daily use. But they feel very different once you ride them. For riders, this choice is not about which is better overall, but its about what suits your daily life.
The Honda Unicorn is priced at Rs 1,13,605 (ex-showroom), while the Bajaj Pulsar 150 starts slightly lower at Rs 1,10,896. Both are close in pricing, but the difference shows in how they behave on the road.
Engine And Performance
The Unicorn comes with a 162.7cc engine producing 12.73 bhp and 14 Nm torque. It is not built for speed. It is built for smoothness. The power delivery is calm, predictable, and easy for beginners.
On the other hand, the Pulsar 150 uses a 149.5cc engine but produces more power which is around 14 PS. It feels quicker when you twist the throttle. It also has a slightly higher top speed of around 110-115 kmph compared to the Unicorn’s relaxed nature.
Ride Comfort And Daily Use
This is where the Unicorn clearly stands out. It has a long, wide seat and a mono-shock suspension that handles bad roads very well. If your daily ride includes potholes, speed breakers, or long office commutes, the Unicorn feels less tiring.
The Pulsar 150 is comfortable too, but slightly firmer. Its Nitrox suspension is good, but the focus is more on handling than comfort. The split seat in some variants also makes it look sporty but slightly less relaxed for long rides.

Mileage And Fuel Tank
The Unicorn offers a claimed mileage of around 50-60 kmpl with a 13-litre tank. It is very fuel-efficient. The Pulsar 150 gives around 47-50 kmpl but comes with a bigger 15-litre tank. This means fewer fuel stops, especially for longer rides.
Features And Technology
The Unicorn keeps things simple. It has an analog instrument cluster, halogen headlight, and basic features. It focuses more on reliability than modern tech. The Pulsar 150 feels more updated. Newer models offer LED lighting, a digital console, Bluetooth connectivity, and even a USB charger. For young riders, this adds to the appeal.
Braking And Safety
Both bikes come with single-channel ABS for safety. The Pulsar offers more options, including a twin-disc variant, which gives better braking performance.
Design And Style
Design is where the biggest difference lies. The Unicorn looks simple and mature. It is made for people who want a no-nonsense bike. The Pulsar 150 looks sporty with its wolf-eyed headlamp, sharp graphics, and muscular tank. It attracts younger riders instantly.
If you want comfort, peace of mind, and a smooth daily ride, the Honda Unicorn is the safer choice. It’s simple and dependable. If you want a bit of excitement, modern features, and a sporty feel, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 makes more sense.
