July 2026 will shape up to be one of the busiest launch months in recent memory with Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Nissan and MG all bringing new or updated models to Indian showrooms within weeks of each other. If you've been holding off on a car purchase, this matters because at least three of these directly compete with each other, so waiting a few weeks could genuinely change which one makes sense for your budget.
What's New with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza?
The Maruti Brezza facelift is expected to launch by the end of July and reports suggest Maruti Suzuki is finally adding a turbo-petrol engine option, likely the 1.0-litre Boosterjet unit borrowed from the Fronx, producing around 99 bhp and 147.6 Nm. The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is expected to continue alongside it,
and the CNG version is tipped to get an underbody-mounted tank instead of the current boot-mounted setup similar to what Maruti's already done with the Victoris.
A bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen and ventilated front seats are also expected. None of this is officially confirmed yet but with Brezza sales down 14% year-on-year in May, the timing suggests Maruti Suzuki is trying to recover ground lost to rivals like the Nexon and Venue which already offer turbo engines.
What About the Kwid and Tekton?
Renault's updated Kwid debuts on July 3, with styling reportedly borrowing cues from the Dacia Spring while keeping its existing 1.0-litre petrol engine and transmission choices unchanged. Six days later, on July 9, Nissan brings its new Tekton midsize SUV sharing its 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engines with the Renault Duster while styling itself after the larger Nissan Patrol.
The same day, MG is expected to reveal a new energy vehicle based on the China-spec Wuling Starlight 560, a plug-in hybrid SUV reportedly combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery for a combined 197 bhp.
Should You Wait or Buy Now?
If you're shopping in the compact SUV or hatchback segment specifically, it's worth holding off until these launches play out, since pricing on the Brezza and Kwid could shift what currently looks like good value. For midsize SUV buyers, the Tekton's confirmed July 9 reveal gives you a genuine new option to compare against the Creta and Seltos before committing to either.
