Honda ADV 160 Debuts As Brand's New E85-Compatible Adventure Scooter

Honda has taken the wraps off the ADV 160 in India, giving enthusiasts their first official look at its adventure-style maxi-scooter. The biggest talking point is its 157cc liquid-cooled engine which is compatible with E85 fuel containing up to 85% ethanol. While the scooter has been showcased as part of Honda's premium two-wheeler lineup, the company is yet to confirm if or when it will go on sale in India. Along with its adventure-inspired styling, the ADV 160 packs modern features and hardware that set it apart from conventional scooters sold in the country.

E85-Compatible Engine And Cycle Parts

The Honda ADV 160 is powered by a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 16 bhp and 14.7 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a CVT automatic transmission.

The engine is designed to run on E85 fuel and allows it to use petrol blended with up to 85% ethanol.

The scooter is built on an underbone frame and gets telescopic front forks along with twin rear shock absorbers featuring external reservoirs. It rides on a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel fitted with block-pattern tyres. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends while dual-channel ABS comes as standard.

Honda ADV 160: Features And Styling

Unlike a regular city scooter, the ADV 160 has a more rugged appearance with a tall windscreen, sharp bodywork and a stepped seat. The riding position is upright and is suitable for longer journeys as well as daily commuting.

Feature highlights include full-LED lighting, a digital instrument display, Honda Smart Key with keyless operation, traction control, an idle stop system as well as a USB charging socket. There's also enough under-seat storage to accommodate a full-face helmet. This makes the model practical for everyday use.

India Launch Still Awaited

Honda has not announced an India launch or revealed pricing for the ADV 160. Its appearance at the brand's latest showcase indicates that the company is assessing interest in the premium adventure scooter segment before taking a final call.

If it reaches Indian showrooms, the ADV 160 will cater to buyers looking for something different from traditional scooters. Its adventure-focused design, modern equipment along with E85-compatible engine could help it carve out a place in a segment that currently has very few direct competitors.
