Nissan has officially confirmed that it will showcase some important and interesting models at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, which is one of the world’s biggest and most influential automotive events. The
show will take place from January 9 to January 11, 2026, at Makuhari Messe in Japan and Nissan’s lineup promises a strong focus on performance, and design.
At the event, Nissan will present three major highlights:
- A brand-new Nismo concept model
- An updated Fairlady Z, including changes to the Nismo version
- The X-Trail Rock Creek concept, which adds an adventure-focused flavour

One of the biggest highlights will be Nissan’s new Nismo concept vehicle. So far, the company has released only a single teaser image, which keeps most details under wraps. The teaser shows a small section of the car’s rear.
Visible elements include horizontal taillights, a rear lip spoiler, vertical air vents near the rear fenders and a sharply slanted rear windscreen. These design elements strongly suggest that the car is built with performance in mind. However, Nissan has not revealed whether this concept is powered by a petrol engine, a hybrid system or a fully electric drivetrain.
Nismo Prototype Coming In 2026
Adding to the buzz, Nissan has also confirmed that a separate Nismo prototype will make its competitive debut later in 2026, and this means the brand is actively developing high-performance vehicles that could eventually reach customers. Nissan has not confirmed whether this prototype is connected to the teased Nismo concept, but a future production version is already planned, which is great news for fans of sporty cars.
Updated Fairlady Z
Another highlight of Nissan’s display will be the updated Fairlady Z, which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan by summer 2026. The refreshed model gets design changes focused on better aerodynamics, which helps the car perform more efficiently at high speeds.
The most exciting update is for the Fairlady Z Nismo version, as for the first time ever, Nissan will offer a manual transmission on the Nismo variant. A manual gearbox gives drivers more control and involvement, which makes the driving experience more engaging.
