Electric cars are no longer a futuristic idea in India, as they are here, they are fast and in some cases, they are surprisingly powerful. One such example is the Tata Harrier EV Empowered QWD 75 ACFC, which is priced at Rs 29.48 lakh (ex-showroom), roughly Rs 31 lakh on-road in Delhi. That makes it the most expensive car Tata currently sells. But the big question is - Is it worth that kind of money?
What Makes It Special?
The Harrier EV is not just an electric version of the regular Harrier. This is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) SUV. Tata calls it QWD (Quad Wheel Drive), which means there is one motor powering the front wheels and another powering the rear wheels. Together, they produce 396 ps and 504 Nm of torque, which means this large family SUV can sprint
from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds.
Battery, Range and Charging
The Harrier EV uses a 75 kWh liquid-cooled LFP battery pack with an IP67 rating for water and dust protection. Tata claims a range of 622 km (ARAI certified). In real-world driving, expect around 400-450 km, depending on your driving.
Charging options are practical as it supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in around 25 minutes. The included 7.2 kW AC fast charger (Wallbox) takes about 10.7 hours for a full charge at home.
It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, which means, you can power appliances or even charge another EV using this car.

Features
From the inside, the Harrier EV feels modern and tech-heavy. The highlight is a large 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen, paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver display. The 10-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos is easily among the best in the segment.
Other premium touches include ventilated front seats with memory function, a panoramic sunroof (voice-controlled), powered tailgate with gesture control, Boss Mode for extra rear legroom, air purifier, dual-zone climate control and electronic parking brake.
Talking about the safety, the SUV carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, offers 7 airbags (including a driver knee airbag), Level 2 ADAS with 22 functions, and a 540-degree camera with transparent bonnet view. There’s even a “Summon” mode and “Anywhere Parking Assist,” which allow the vehicle to move forward or backward using the key.
Ride, Off-Road Ability and Comfort
The Harrier EV uses an independent multi-link rear suspension with frequency-selective dampers, which means, it handles broken Indian roads extremely well. Ride comfort is one of its biggest strengths.
While it is not a hardcore off-roader, it offers 205 mm ground clearance and six terrain modes like - Normal, Rock Crawl, Mud Ruts, Snow/Grass, Sand and Custom. It can handle muddy trails better than most two-wheel-drive EVs.
So, Is It Worth Rs 30 Lakh?
Yes, if you want performance, AWD capability and loaded features in one package. It is one of the most affordable electric SUVs in India to offer dual-motor AWD and nearly 400 PS of power. Yes, if safety matters to you. A 5-star rating and advanced driver assistance tech add peace of mind.
Tata adds something important which is a lifetime battery warranty for the first private owner. That is a huge confidence booster in the EV world. The Tata Harrier EV Empowered QWD 75 ACFC is not a mass-market EV as it is a powerful, feature-rich electric SUV for buyers who want performance, tech and road presence and are willing to pay for it.
