KTM has introduced the 390 Adventure R in India after a long wait. The motorcycle had been previewed on multiple occasions prior to its launch and is positioned as a more off-road-focused option within KTM’s middleweight adventure range. The key highlight is its pricing. The 390 Adventure R is priced at Rs 3.78 lakh (ex-showroom), making it up to Rs 19,000 more affordable than the standard variant. Bookings are now open through authorised KTM dealerships across the country. While the R version retains the same engine and core design as the regular model, it features revised cycle components to better handle demanding terrain. Here is a closer look at what it offers prospective buyers.

KTM 390 Adventure R: Engine And Performance
Coming to the mechanical side of things, the brand-new 390 Adventure R draws power from a 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This unit puts out 46 hp of maximum power and 39 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox on duty is a six-speed unit with a bi-directional quickshifter. This powertrain is consistent with KTM’s 390 class bikes.
KTM 390 Adventure R: Suspension, Seat Height And Chassis
What makes the 390 Adventure R stand out in the range is its chassis setup. The bike boasts elements like a higher-spec WP Apex suspension with 230 mm of travel at both front and rear, when we compare with the standard Adventure. The seat height and ground clearance stand at 870 mm and 272 mm, respectively. So basically, the focus here is on uneven terrain. The bike rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel with tube-type spoke wheels and knobby tyres.

Official mileage figures for the 390 Adventure R have not been confirmed yet but bikes in the KTM 390 Adventure family typically return around 30 kmpl in mixed riding conditions due to their engine size and tuning.
