In India's electric vehicle (EV) adoption journey, electric scooters are among the top categories that are driving EV sales across the country. These include popular economy options under Rs 1 lakh and more premium options that cost slightly more. Among the top contenders for the electric scooter market share is Bajaj's Chetak brand, which currently offers several models and has recently launched a new entry-level scooter called the Chetak C2501. Here's everything you need to know about it.
The C2501 is now the new entry-level model in Chetak's portfolio of electric scooters. Earlier, the Chetak 3001 was the most affordable option from the brand, priced at Rs 99,500 ex-showroom. Despite being an affordable variation, the C2501 offers a new design,
an all-metal body, LED lighting and an LCD rider information display at an ex-showroom price of Rs 87,100. The new design gets sleeker proportions and the LED headlamp comes with a horse-show style LED DRL design. It also gets vinyl graphics on the rear panels and the tail lamp gets ice-cube style LED elements. It also comes in six different colour options.
In terms of storage, the Chetak C2501 offers a respectable 25 litres of under-seat storage space. Coming back to the LCD rider display, it supports call alerts and music controls via Bluetooth connectivity and gives a clear view of important riding information such as speed, drive mode, battery SOC, range and other details.

Chetak has launched the C2501 electric scooter with a single 2.5 kWh battery pack option that returns a claimed range of up to 113 km and a top speed of 55 kmph. It also has a 0-80 percent charge time of 2 hours, 25 minutes to add to user convenience. It also gets a front disc brake but no ABS. At the price point of Rs 87,100 ex-showroom, the Chetak C2501 undercuts other popular options in the market, such as the Ather Rizta, Ola S1 X, TVS iQube and more. Moreover, the C2501 has the nostalgia factor and neo-retro looks going for it, just like its elder siblings. The all-metal body also gives this electric scooter a perception of better durability and makes small repairs easier and also less costly than replacing plastic parts found in other alternatives.
