Honda has officially pulled the plug on its CB300R in India, ending the run of a motorcycle that never quite found its footing in a crowded market. The move comes after months of sluggish sales and vanishing
dealer interest, with the model now absent from Honda’s official website.
The CB300R, positioned as Honda’s most affordable liquid-cooled motorcycle, was priced around Rs 2.57 lakh (ex-showroom). This was reduced to 2.19 lakh after the recent GST cuts. Despite its strong brand name and crisp styling, the bike struggled to resonate with Indian buyers. Retail activity around the model had slowed to a halt, with some showrooms failing to sell even a single unit in recent months.

One of the main reasons behind the CB300R’s decline appears to be a shift in buyer preferences. Over the past year, the mid-capacity segment has seen riders gravitate towards larger, more versatile motorcycles in the 350cc to 500cc range. Models like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350, and Triumph Speed 400 have captured the attention of riders. The CB300R, by comparison, found itself squeezed between smaller commuters and more premium machines.
Within Honda’s BigWing network, the focus has increasingly turned toward the brand’s 350cc lineup, particularly the H’ness CB350 and CB350RS, which continue to bring consistent footfall. There’s been speculation that Honda might reintroduce a refreshed CB300R at a later stage, possibly with updated components or revised pricing, but so far, there’s been no official word.

For now, the discontinuation leaves a noticeable gap in Honda’s premium lineup for entry-level enthusiasts. The CB300R’s nimble handling and ease of use made it an ideal urban motorcycle, but in a market increasingly drawn to bigger engines, its appeal faded fast. A few dealerships may still have leftover stock, though prospective buyers should inspect carefully before purchasing.
