The Yamaha XSR155, which went on sale in India last year, has become one of most desirable neo-retro motorcycles in India within a short span of time. The motorcycle is quite popular among younger riders looking for a modern roadster with classic design cues. Now, Yamaha has launched the XSR155 in Japan, and the naked roadster looks different from the version we get here. Here's a closer look at some of the key changes the Japan-spec XSR155 gets over the India-spec version.
Yamaha XSR155 Launched In Japan: Price
The biggest point of difference is in the price. The Japan-spec Yamaha XSR155 carries a base price of 490,000 yen, which roughly converts to around Rs 2.96 lakh. At this price, the bike is more expensive than the India-spec version, which starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.50
lakh. The bike's high end pricing seems justified as the Japanese model gets a few unique elements that help distinguish it visually from the version sold in India.
Yamaha XSR155 Launched In Japan: Colours
The motorcycle is offered in three colour options in Japan, including a newly introduced black paint scheme that gives the bike a more premium appearance. Unlike the simpler Metallic Black finish available on the India-spec model, the Japanese version gets golden and red graphics on the fuel tank. The tank also features elegant golden pinstripes on both sides along with a Yamaha badge finished with a red background.
Yamaha XSR155 Launched In Japan: Wheels Design
Another worth noticing difference can be seen in the alloy wheel design. The Japanese-spec XSR155 gets differently styled alloy wheels finished in bronze, compared to the simpler one seen on the India-spec model. Yamaha has also equipped the Japan-spec model with block-pattern tyres. They add a a bit of a rugged stance to the the neo-retro roadster.

Yamaha XSR155 Launched In Japan: Engine
Engine-wise, the Japan-spec motorcycle is also a bit unique. The 155cc liquid-cooled engine on the Japanese version produces 18.7hp and 14Nm. In comparison, the India-spec XSR155 develops 18.1hp and 14.2Nm. While the Japanese model produces slightly more power, the India-spec bike offers marginally higher torque output.
