Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the covers off the all-new 2026 GLB, and this refreshed model brings a long list of major upgrades and the most important change is that the brand is now leading with the electric version. Instead of using the old EQB name, the company is calling it the GLB with EQ Technology.
On the outside, the SUV keeps its boxy, upright shape, something many Mercedes fans loved about older models like the GLK. Even though the design still looks familiar, the 2026 GLB is bigger in almost every way. It is 48 mm longer and 27 mm wider than before, with a wheelbase that has been stretched by 60 mm.
The height has been slightly reduced for better aerodynamics. Due to these changes, the cabin now feels roomier with noticeably more
headroom and legroom in all three rows. Mercedes says the third row can now comfortably seat people up to 1.71 meters tall, which is uncommon in compact SUVs. Interestingly, neither BMW nor Audi offer a seven-seat electric SUV in this segment yet, giving Mercedes a clear and early advantage.

The new GLB arrives with two electric powertrain options, as the base model, the GLB 250+, uses a single motor that produces 268 hp and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. The top-end GLB 350 4Matic uses dual motors, which makes 349 hp and sprinting to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. Both versions have an 85 kWh battery and an electronically limited top speed of 210 km/h.
They also support extremely fast charging that is just 10 minutes at a 320 kW charger and can add enough power for 260 km of driving. In terms of range, the GLB 250+ can travel up to 631 km on a full charge under the WLTP cycle, while the dual-motor version can cover up to 614 km.
From the inside, the 2026 GLB takes a big leap forward in technology and luxury. The cabin is filled with high-tech features, starting with three large screens- a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch center touchscreen and a 14-inch passenger display.
Mercedes has also added flush door handles for better aerodynamics and a panoramic glass roof featuring 158 illuminated stars, which can shift from transparent to opaque with the touch of a button. Despite the modern screens, a few physical shortcut buttons remain for convenience.
Another major improvement is practicality, as the electric GLB now offers two trunks- a front trunk (frunk) with 127 liters of space and a rear boot that offers 540 liters in the five-seat model or 480 liters in the seven-seat version. Folding the seats expands the cargo area to as much as 1,715 liters, making it one of the most spacious electric SUVs in its class.
The 2026 GLB with EQ Technology is already available for order in Germany, with prices starting at €59,048 (around Rs 61,93,367) for the single-motor model and €62,178 (around Rs 65,21,663) for the dual-motor 4Matic version. Mercedes has also confirmed that a more affordable electric GLB and a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol variant will be added to the lineup soon, likely sometime in 2026.
With its increased space, advanced technology, long electric range and now a seven-seat layout, the 2026 Mercedes GLB stands out as one of the most practical and modern electric SUVs in the compact premium segment. While globally the new GLB electric will be replacing the EQB, Mercedes Benz has not yet announced when it will arrive in India, however, it can be expected later in 2026.
