The debut of the Yamaha Aerox E and EC-06 in India marks a new chapter in the brand’s mobility strategy. Designed to cater both to performance-seeking riders and urban commuters, these two electric scooters
showcase Yamaha’s move beyond internal-combustion models into the EV space. With claimed ranges of 106 km for the Aerox E and up to 160 km for the EC-06, the two models combine modern styling, advanced features and varying use-cases. What this really means is that buyers looking for either sporty electric scooters or practical city-EVs now have fresh options from a global brand with an established dealer network.

Yamaha Aerox-E: Performance-Led Scooter
The Aerox E is Yamaha’s new high-performance electric maxi-scooter for the Indian market. It uses a 3.0 kWh dual-battery pack (two 1.5 kWh units) to power a motor that is capable of generating peak output of 12.60 hp and peak torque output of 48 Nm. It is officially said to have a 106 km range on a single charge. This scooter offers Eco, Standard, and Power riding modes along with a Boost function for added performance too.
In terms of features, the five-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth navigation also makes the grade among detachable batteries for easy home charging. The single-channel ABS, traction control as well as the bold sporty design carries forward the Aerox DNA tailored towards e-mobility.
Yamaha EC-06: Urban-Focused Scooter
On the other side of Yamaha’s new EV entry is the EC-06, developed with an eye on urban and inter-city riders. It lives on a fixed 4 kWh battery pack paired with a 6.03 hp motor (8.98 hp peak) and offers a top speed of around 90 km/h. It is claimed to deliver up to 160 km under IDC test conditions. The model includes three ride modes and reverse assist for tight-space manoeuvres. LED lighting, a full-colour LCD instrument cluster, and built-in telematics (SIM connectivity) also feature. Under-seat storage is rated at 24.5 litres. With its more relaxed ergonomics and urban orientation, the EC-06 rounds out Yamaha’s early EV push.

Yamaha Electric Scooters: India Launch Plans
Yamaha has announced that both models will be available in the Indian market by early 2026, with prices being revealed closer to launch. The Aerox E is meant for those who want a high-quality electric performance scooter whereas EC-06 is more concentrated on daily use and long single-charge distance. Strategically, Yamaha plans to attack both ends of the electric scooter market: sports enthusiasts as well as practical commuters.
