Jeep has surprised SUV fans around the world by unveiling a brand-new electric off-roader that comes with a feature many people instantly associate with the Wrangler’s detachable doors. But this time, it’s not the Wrangler stealing the spotlight, but it is the all-new Jeep Recon that brings this adventurous, open-air experience to a fresh, modern electric SUV package.
The Recon has been designed for people who want the thrill of off-roading without giving up new-age technology. Along with removable doors, the SUV also offers detachable rear windows and a flexible cabin setup, which gives drivers a true outdoor feel. Built on Jeep’s advanced electric platform, it promises strong performance, impressive range and the rugged capability the brand
is known for.
The Recon is equipped with two electric motors that together produce a massive 650 horsepower and 840 nm of torques. Due to this, the SUV can accelerate from 0–96 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. True to Jeep’s off-road legacy, the Recon comes with four-wheel drive and carries the Trail Rated badge, which signals that it is built for serious terrain.
The rear motor has a 15:1 final drive ratio and an electronic locking differential for maximum traction, while the front motor gets an 11:1 ratio with an open differential. The Moab trim also includes Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system with five modes, including Rock mode, which allows drivers to adjust the SUV’s dynamics for different surfaces.
Dimensionally, the Recon sits between familiar Jeep models as it is about five inches longer than the four-door Wrangler but has a six-inch shorter wheelbase. It's also wider, giving it a planted stance, although the Wrangler still offers slightly more boot space. With 33-inch tyres, the Recon delivers 9.1 inches of ground clearance and strong approach and departure angles which is important for climbing rocks or going through steep trails.
Underneath, the SUV uses Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, which also supports the Dodge Charger Daytona EV and the Jeep Wagoneer S. Its 100.5 kWh battery offers up to 400 km of range with the top speed is 180 km/h.
Even without a traditional engine, the seven-slot Jeep grille remains but with illuminated slots for a futuristic look. The bumper includes red tow hooks and the rear carries Wrangler-inspired taillights along with a full-size spare tyre. In true Jeep style, the doors can be removed and even the swing-gate glass and rear quarter windows are detachable.
The cabin focuses on technology with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5. Most controls, including the air-conditioning, are digital. Jeep also equips the Recon with a premium Alpine sound system.
Looking at the practicality, with the rear seats down, it offers 1866.08 liters of cargo space. There is even a small 84 liters front trunk (frunk) designed to hold small stuff like a carry-on bag.

Production will take place in Mexico starting early 2026. The Recon will go on sale first in the US and Canada, with global markets to follow. Jeep hasn’t confirmed whether India will get the Recon, but given the rising interest in premium EVs, it remains a possibility. Jeep will reveal pricing closer to the launch.
