If you are planning to buy an affordable SUV but can’t decide between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the new Mahindra Bolero Neo, then this is for you. Both the cars are made in India and fall under Rs 8.5
lakh value aiming to deliver best features in the range, but they appeal to very different kinds of drivers.
Let’s have a look at the key difference:
Engine And Performance
The Brezza LXi MT runs on petrol with Maruti’s 1.5-litre K15C Smart Hybrid engine and it produces about 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque which is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This setup is smooth, efficient and perfect for daily city driving.
On the other hand, the Bolero Neo N4 is equipped with a 1.5-litre mHawk100 turbo-diesel engine and produces 100 bhp but delivers a much stronger 260 Nm of torque, which makes it great for carrying loads or tackling rough roads. It is a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) SUV which means it’s built tougher, more suited for rural or uneven terrain.
Space And Practicality
Both SUVs are almost the same length which is under 4 meters, but they serve different needs.
The Brezza accommodates 5 people comfortably and offers a 328-litre boot for luggage. Its cabin feels modern and city-friendly, with fabric seats, power windows, and a clean dashboard design.
The Bolero Neo is a 7-seater though the third row is best for kids or short trips and has 384 litres of boot space when the last row is folded. From inside it is more basic, with vinyl seats and a simple analog cluster, but it is made to last in rough conditions.

Safety & Build
The Brezza takes a clear lead here as Maruti has equipped six airbags, even in its base model and also has ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold control, and child safety locks. It is based on a strong platform and has proven safety measures whereas the Bolero Neo includes dual airbags, ABS, and Cornering Brake Control.
However there are no current safety ratings available for both the 2025 models, the older version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza scored 4 stars in Global NCAP whereas the Mahindra Bolero Neo scored 1 star in the same.
Price
- Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi MT is priced at Rs 8,25,900
- Mahindra Bolero Neo N4 Diesel is priced at Rs 8,49,000
Though, the difference is just about Rs 23,100, but what you need depends on your choice and lifestyle.
Both SUVs are solid buys under Rs 8.5 lakh, but they are built for very different roads. The Brezza is smart, urban SUV for everyday comfort, while the Bolero Neo is a rugged workhorse that works well in mud, bumps and countryside adventures.
