The world of cars is changing fast and electric vehicles are no longer just about batteries and charging because now they are becoming smarter, more digital and more connected than ever before. At the upcoming
CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the BMW Group is all set to unveil the new BMW iX3 electric SUV.
CES (Consumer Electronics Show), is one of the world’s biggest technology events. Carmakers increasingly use this platform to reveal how cars are turning into “computers on wheels.” The BMW iX3 will be displayed at BMW’s booth in the Silver Lot, located in front of the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
First Model on Neue Klasse Platform
The new iX3 is a very important car for BMW as it is the first production model built on the Neue Klasse platform. Neue Klasse is BMW’s new foundation for future electric cars. It focuses on three major areas, which are electrification, digital technology and advanced software. BMW says this platform will shape around 40 new or updated models by 2027, making the iX3 a preview of what’s coming next.
Panoramic iDrive
One of the biggest highlights of the BMW iX3 is the new Panoramic iDrive system. Unlike traditional dashboards loaded with buttons, this system focuses on a wide, clear display and intelligent software, as it works closely with BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant, which allows drivers to talk to the car in a more natural way.
Instead of using fixed voice commands, drivers can speak normally and the system understands the context. For example- you could say you feel cold, and the car may automatically adjust the temperature. This is a really cool feature which BMW introduced in this car
Alexa+
BMW has also announced a major partnership with Amazon, which makes it the first carmaker to integrate Alexa+ into a production vehicle. Alexa+ is an advanced version of Amazon’s voice assistant that understands more complex and situation-based requests. This reduces the need to touch screens or press buttons while driving. Visitors can also experience this technology at Amazon’s Devices & Services exhibit at the Venetian Hotel during CES 2026.
Concepts to Reality
BMW has been slowly building toward this moment and at CES 2023, it showcased the i Vision Dee concept, focusing on conversational AI. At CES 2025, BMW revealed the Panoramic iDrive display concept. Now, at CES 2026, the iX3 will bring these ideas into a real, production-ready car.
