Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the all-electric CLA in India on April 24, with bookings already underway for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh and deliveries expected to follow soon after. What stands out isn’t just the date, it’s where this car sits. The CLA EV is expected to slot below the brand’s larger electric offerings, which have so far defined the luxury EV space in India. For buyers, that matters. Until now, stepping into a luxury EV often meant stretching budgets significantly. The CLA EV hints at a slightly more approachable entry point, without stepping away from what people expect from the badge. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric.
Design And Tech: Familiar Shape, New Thinking Underneath
At a glance, the CLA EV sticks to what has worked before. The low-slung,
coupe-like profile remains, but the details shift. There’s a closed-off grille, illuminated star elements, and a cleaner, more aerodynamic look that clearly leans into efficiency.
The bigger change sits underneath. The CLA EV is based on Mercedes-Benz’s MMA platform, developed specifically for electric models. That usually translates to better energy management and smarter packaging, rather than adapting an existing petrol or diesel setup.
Inside, the focus is on a digital-first cabin with the latest MBUX interface and connected features. It’s a familiar direction, but what’s interesting is how much of this tech is being brought into a relatively lower segment.

Range, Rollout And What This Means For Buyers
The CLA EV offers a claimed range of over 700km (WLTP) for the long range variant and about 542 km for the standard variant. Other India-specific details will be clearer at launch, but the emphasis is clearly on efficiency and usable real-world range. The prices are expected to fall in the Rs 55 lakh-60 lakh range.
Bookings have already opened, and deliveries are expected to begin from April 2026. That timeline suggests Mercedes is aiming for a smoother rollout compared to some earlier EV launches.
For buyers, this changes the equation slightly. The CLA EV could become the first realistic luxury EV for many, especially those moving up from premium petrol sedans or SUVs.
And zooming out, it says something about where the market is heading. Luxury EVs are no longer just halo products. They’re slowly turning into viable upgrade options and this car could be one of the reasons why.
