If you thought recalls only happen in the car world, then you need to re-think, as superbikes get them too. Superbike maker Ducati, the Italian brand known for making some of the fastest and most stylish motorcycles, has announced a recall for two of its flagship models in India- the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4.
The reason is a possible defect in the rear wheel axle, which is a part that connects
the wheel to the bike’s swingarm. While this might sound small, it’s critical for safety. The brand traced the issue back to an incident in 2023, when an axle broke while a bike was in motion, which was risky for the driver. Thankfully, the wheel didn’t detach, and no injuries were reported, but since then, Ducati has decided to play it safe by issuing a global recall.
In India, 393 bikes built between 2018 and 2025 are affected. Owners of these models will be contacted directly by the brand to bring their motorcycles to authorised dealerships, where technicians will inspect the axle and replace it free of charge if needed.

Interestingly, the problem is not isolated to India, but globally, the recall covers thousands of bikes, which are around 10,000 units in the US, nearly 7,000 in Germany, plus others in Canada and beyond. Even high-end models like the Panigale V4 R and the ultra-rare Superleggera V4 are also included.
According to Motorrad online, while Ducati hasn’t identified one single reason for the axle issue, reports suggest it could be a mix of factors like high mileage, incorrect wheel adjustments, or torque errors.
For riders, this recall might feel like an inconvenience, but it’s also a signal that Ducati is prioritising safety first, which is something every superbike rider will appreciate before hitting those speeds.
