Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) presents the Times Drive Auto Summit & Awards 2026, has named the Tata Sierra as the Viewer’s Choice Car of the Year. The SUV, which made its return to the Indian market last year after a hiatus of more than two decades, has witnessed enormous demand, with bookings crossing one lakh mark earlier this year, including an overwhelming response of around 70,000 orders within just 24 hours of bookings opening in December last year. The strong customer interest shows the emotional connect and growing appeal of the revived Sierra nameplate. While the official details are yet to be revealed, Tata Motors is planning to launch the Sierra EV in India, making its presence stronger in growing electric segment.

Winners were evaluated on key parameters such as performance, technology, design, and overall consumer impact. The event was attended by Nitin Gadkari as chief guest, who shared his vision for the future of India’s automotive and mobility sector.

The new-gen Sierra SUV has retained the iconic boxy silhouette, but added a unique touch to its appearance with a range of design elements, including full-width connected LED light bars at both ends. The signature Alpine Window effect has been revived using a large rear glass section, quarter windows, and a gloss-black roof, while the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate has been removed to make the SUV look more clean and slender. Other key highlights include rugged skid-plate bumpers, . flush door handles, and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Features-wise, the Sierra is equipped with ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, triple-screen layout, Dolby Atmos audio, and a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and Level 2 ADAS.
The Sierra offers multiple engine options, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 104bhp and 145Nm, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (T-GDI) with 158bhp and 255Nm, as well as a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel with 116bhp and 260Nm. The Sierra is available in seven trims, including Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished, and Accomplished+.
