Mini India has launched the Cooper S Convertible with the John Cooper Works (JCW) Pack at Rs 61.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This matters for Indian buyers because it adds a sportier, limited-run convertible option in a niche segment. The model is brought in as a completely built unit (CBU) and is available in limited numbers with bookings open against a token of around Rs 1.5 lakh and deliveries already underway.
Engine, Performance And Open-Top Setup
The JCW Pack version continues with the same mechanical setup as the standard Cooper S Convertible. It uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp and 300 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Performance figures remain unchanged, with 0-100 kmph coming up in around 6.9 seconds and a top speed
of about 237 kmph. This positions it as a performance-focused small car rather than a purely lifestyle convertible.
A key highlight is the electrically operated soft-top roof, which can be opened in about 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 kmph. For Indian conditions, this feature is most usable in controlled environments such as highways or cooler weather rather than daily city traffic.
Design, JCW Pack Enhancements And Features
The JCW Pack primarily focuses on visual and feature enhancements. It adds sportier exterior styling, including revised bumpers, blacked-out elements and JCW-specific detailing that differentiates it from the standard Convertible.
Inside, the car gets a circular OLED display that integrates infotainment and vehicle controls along with a fully digital interface. The cabin layout remains compact, with seating for four occupants.
Additional features include connected car technology, ambient lighting and premium interior materials. The overall setup prioritises driver engagement and design rather than rear-seat space or practicality.

Price, Positioning And Buyer Relevance
At Rs 61.50 lakh, the Cooper S Convertible JCW Pack sits in a niche space in India. It is priced above the standard Convertible, which starts at around Rs 58.50 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting the added styling and exclusivity.
For buyers, this is not a practical daily car. Ground clearance, limited rear space as well as weather conditions restrict its everyday usability. Instead, it fits as a second or third vehicle focused on leisure driving.
The JCW Pack does not change performance but enhances visual appeal and exclusivity. The core appeal remains the open-top experience combined with compact performance, which continues to attract a small but consistent group of buyers in the premium segment.
