Yamaha Taiwan has unveiled the Cygnus XR155, the newest member of its popular Cygnus scooter family. What makes this launch special is that, for the first time ever, the Cygnus series gets a bigger 155cc engine, moving beyond its usual 125cc.
The XR155 isn’t just about engine power, but also about design. The scooter sports a bold new look, which features a triple-lens LED headlight inspired by Yamaha’s premium XMAX. Something even cooler is that the headlight changes its colour temperature depending on lighting conditions, switching between white and warm white for better visibility.

Under the design, the XR155 has the same 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with
Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that powers the Aerox 155. On the Aerox, this motor makes 15hp and 13.9Nm torque, so similar performance is expected. But unlike the Aerox’s sporty, step-through layout, the XR155 keeps a flat floorboard design which makes it more practical for daily riders and familiar to Indian scooter users.
Currently, the XR155 is available only in Taiwan, however Yamaha hasn’t confirmed an India launch yet, but if it does come here, it could directly challenge the scooters available in this segment and sit neatly between Yamaha’s RayZR 125 and Aerox 155. Given its mix of power, practicality, design and style, the XR155 might just become a big hit with Indian riders if introduced.
