India’s biggest and most trusted carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, had maintained its position on Number 1 with total sales of 189,665 units in September 2025 as compared to 1,84,72 last year. This number includes 135,711 units sold in India, 11,750 units supplied to other manufacturers, and a whopping 42,204 units exported, which marked Maruti’s highest-ever export figure for a single month.
A major reason behind this strong performance has been the GST 2.0 reform, which increased customer confidence making them to invest in the brand and pushed festive sales to new heights. In fact, during the first eight days of the Navratri festival, Maruti Suzuki delivered an amazing number which is 1,65,000 cars, that is the highest-ever festive season start for the brand ever.
Looking at the details:
- Compact cars which are Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Dzire, Ignis and Celerio remained the top contributors, with 66,882 units sold, slightly higher than last year.
- Small cars like Alto and S-Press saw a decline, selling 7,208 units compared to over 10,000 last year.
- Mid-size sedans like Ciaz had no sales this month, compared to 662 units a year ago.
- SUVs and MPVs which are Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Fronx, XL6, Jimny, Invicto and all new Victoris sold 48,695 units, which is lower than the 61,549 sold last September.
- Eeco vans sold 10,035 units, down from last year.
- Light Commercial Vehicle – Super Carry recorded 2,891 sales, also a slight dip.
The real highlight of the Maruti Suzuki’s sales surge, however, was exports. By sending over 42,000 cars abroad in just one month, Maruti Suzuki underscored its growing strength in global markets.
The Brand noted that while domestic sales were slightly affected by logistical challenges at the end of the month, strong exports and festival demand made up the target for it and helped in maintaining the number 1 automobile manufacturer in the country.
