Mahindra will soon add a new rugged lifestyle SUV to its range based on the Vision S concept that debuted last year on Independence Day. However, before the launch, the upcoming car is already in the buzz, and we have detailed everything about its expected price, powertrain, features and other specs to give you an idea of what could be expected from the upcoming Mahindra SUV.
Mahindra Vision S Design
Being a sub-4m SUV, the upcoming car will enter a crowded market in India, and therefore, Mahindra is working relentlessly on its design to help it stand out. You can expect a similar boxy and muscular stance as seen on the concept, with a few production-specific changes. Some of the key elements may include inverted L-shaped headlamps, a flat roofline, an elevated bonnet,
full-width LED DRLs and beefy body cladding.
Mahindra Vision S Platform And Powertrain
Beyond the surface, the SUV will sport the automaker's new NU_IQ monocoque platform. This architecture is well-known to accommodate multiple powertrains, including internal combustion (ICE), electric, diesel, as well as hybrid. Currently, there is no confirmation on the exact powertrain. Industry reports, however, suggest that the Mahindra SUV will likely be offered with familiar petrol and diesel engines from Mahindra's existing range. The chances for a .2-litre turbo-petrol unit alongside a 1.5-litre diesel motor are high, with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
Mahindra Vision S Features
Inside, the production-spec Vision S is expected to have a dashboard layout different from existing Mahindra SUVs. In terms of equipment, Mahindra will install a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, and a panoramic sunroof (higher variants) to keep it relevant in the growing tech-focused SUV market of today. In terms of safety, the Vision S is likely to be fitted with Level 2 ADAS.
Mahindra Vision S Expected Price And Launch Timeline
The Mahindra Vision S is expected to have a price ranging between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom).
While Mahindra has not announced an official launch date, the SUV is expected to make its hit the streets by the end of the year.
Mahindra Vision S Rivals
Once launched, the production-spec Mahindra Vision S will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
