Honda has taken the wraps off its V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype at EICMA 2025 in Milan, and this might just be one of the most technically interesting motorcycles at the show. The highlight is its unique
900cc V3 engine paired with an electronically controlled compressor, a first for any motorcycle.
This setup allows Honda to precisely manage engine boost, delivering instant torque without the typical lag you get from turbocharged systems. According to the brand, the V3R’s performance matches that of a 1200cc engine while maintaining better efficiency, thanks to its smaller displacement and advanced forced-induction control. The compressor’s electronic management is unlike a traditional turbo or supercharger.

The 75-degree water-cooled V3 engine is compact. Honda says the goal was to create a powertrain that offers big-bike performance without the extra weight or bulk. The soundtrack of the V3 engine, paired with the compressor system, is also said to be unique.
Visually, the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype looks purpose-built. Its streetfighter-inspired stance is lean and muscular, with a vertical LED headlight, asymmetrical side fairings, and a distinctive single-sided swingarm. The design also introduces the new “Honda Flagship Wing” emblem on the tank, which will start appearing on Honda’s premium models from next year. The concept behind the motorcycle, internally called “Non-Rail Roller Coaster,” is, in simple terms, Honda's attempt at making a machine that feels wild yet manageable.
While the V3R remains a prototype for now, the level of development suggests it’s more than a design study. Many elements, like the trellis frame, compressor integration, and compact V3 layout, seem production-ready. Honda’s engineers appear to be using this project to test a new direction for performance motorcycles.

No production timeline has been announced, but given the maturity of this prototype, it wouldn’t be surprising if a road-going version arrives in the coming years. The V3R 900 E-Compressor might just mark the start of a new chapter in Honda’s performance lineup.
