The Citroen C3 Aircross SUV marks a significant milestone for the brand by becoming its first model in India to bag a perfect five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. Tested in its 5-seater
configuration, this mid-size SUV performed very well on both, adult and child occupant protection counts. This recognition places the Aircross among a handful of India-specific models that have managed to satisfy or surpass the government’s more stringent standards of evaluating enhanced safety features, hence making it one of the safest options within its segment. C3 Aircross SUV: Adult Occupant Protection Scores
The Citroen Aircross earned 27.05 out of 32 points for adult occupant safety in the Bharat NCAP test. Its structure and footwell area was deemed as stable, which means that it can take more load. Moreover, the protection offered to head, neck, chest as well as knees of the front passengers was found to be good/adequate. Besides, side impact performance of the SUV was also rated high, which helped it get an overall five-star rating.

Aircross scored 40 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. Tests were conducted using child seats fastened with ISOFIX anchors and top tether points, which come as standard in all variants of this SUV. Protection offered by these restraint systems was rated as good both in the frontal and side impact tests. Bharat NCAP also noted the clear labelling and ease of installation, which helps with the score.

Coming to the safety features of the car, the variant tested by the BNCAP included seatbelt reminders for all seats, dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags, and ABS with EBD. Other features come in the form of electronic stability control (ESC), three-point seatbelts for all occupants, and adjustable head restraints.

Significance Of The BNCAP Rating
The five-star Bharat NCAP score is especially notable because this is Citroen’s first model in India to achieve the top rating.
