The KTM 390 Duke has become over Rs 40,000 more expensive in India with the latest ex-showroom price now at Rs 3.39 lakh. For anyone considering this bike, that’s not a small revision, it directly impacts where it sits in the market. This isn’t tied to a new update or feature addition. The motorcycle remains the same as before. What’s changed is purely the price and that shift is large enough to affect how buyers compare it with other options in this segment.
The Real Reason: GST Impact Explained
The price jump is due to a 40% tax now being applied to the bike. KTM had been holding prices steady for a while by absorbing that extra cost, even after the tax revision related to GST 2.0 were announced. That’s no longer the case. With the revised pricing, the on-road cost has now increased
as well.
New Price And What You Still Get
The KTM 390 Duke is now priced at Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom), up from roughly Rs 2.97 lakh earlier, marking an increase of just over Rs 40,000. Mechanically, nothing has changed. It continues with the 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing around 45 hp and 39 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike still offers its existing hardware and electronics package including ride-by-wire, traction control, quickshifter, riding modes along with a TFT display. The chassis, suspension setup as well as styling introduced with the latest generation remain unchanged. So, the product stays exactly the same and only the price has moved.
What This Price Jump Actually Signals
A hike of this scale is unusual in this segment, especially without any update to the motorcycle itself. It effectively pushes the 390 Duke further into premium territory. At Rs 3.39 lakh, it starts overlapping with motorcycles that offer either larger engines or a different type of riding experience.
This also reflects a broader shift. Performance-focused bikes are seeing steady price increases and manufacturers appear to be testing how much buyers are willing to stretch for brand and performance. The 390 Duke has always been positioned as a high-performance entry point. This move takes it a step further away from being “entry-level.”

Buyer Relevance
If you were considering the 390 Duke earlier, you need to keep this update in mind. At its previous price, it sat in a relatively sweet spot. Now, buyers will likely compare it more closely with alternatives both within and outside the KTM lineup.
The gap to bigger bikes has narrowed and that could influence upgrade decisions. At the same time, the 390 Duke still offers a strong performance package for its size.
