Tata Motors is gearing up to reintroduce the Sierra nameplate in India, this time as a modern SUV. The upcoming Sierra has been showcased several times in concept and near-production form, most recently at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. While Tata Motors has yet to confirm the launch date or pricing, the Sierra is expected to arrive sometime next year.
The SUV will be positioned above the Nexon and close to the Harrier in Tata’s lineup, competing against midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Measuring over four metres in length, the Sierra will be offered in both internal combustion and electric versions.
The ICE-powered Sierra is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will likely
be powered by two all-new petrol engines: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor. The turbo-petrol engine is expected to deliver around 170 hp and 280 Nm of torque, while the naturally aspirated version will be offered on the lower variants. Both engines will support E20 fuel. A diesel variant could also be part of the lineup, using the familiar 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the Harrier and Safari that makes 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

The Sierra EV will sit on Tata’s Acti.ev+ platform, the same architecture that underpins the upcoming Curvv EV and Harrier EV. It is expected to feature 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options. While the Harrier EV is expected to offer rear-wheel drive with optional AWD, the Sierra EV will likely start with a front-wheel-drive layout and a possible dual-motor AWD (Quad-Wheel Drive) setup in higher trims. This one is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 24 lakh.

Safety and convenience features may include Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, six airbags, ESP, traction control, hill descent and launch control, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, HUD display, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
