Tesla's Newest Rs 52,000 Upgrade Is A Feature The Old Model 3 Had For Free

Tesla has rolled out a new retrofit option for the Model 3 in the United States, allowing owners to add a traditional turn signal stalk for Rs 52,000 ($595). This feature, previously standard in older Model 3 versions, was removed during the 2023 redesign, which replaced stalks with touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel and central display.

The change drew criticism from users, with many pointing out practical issues in everyday driving. In response, Tesla is now offering a retrofit kit that includes a new steering wheel, the traditional stalk, and all necessary installation components. The upgrade is compatible with Model 3 vehicles produced in 2024 and 2025 only.

It Headed To Our Shores?

Customers in Europe and China can still purchase the Model 3 with a turn signal stalk at no extra cost. Earlier this year, Tesla introduced the same option in China at about Rs 29,000 ($350), making the U.S. price appear significantly higher.

Alongside the turn signal upgrade, Tesla has also announced improvements to battery packs for the Model 3 and Model Y, resulting in increased driving range. The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 now offers a maximum range of 323 miles, up from 318 miles previously, thanks to higher-density battery cells.

Tesla says these changes reflect a customer-focused approach, addressing usability concerns while maintaining the core design of the Model 3. The company emphasised that the base pricing for the Model 3 remains unchanged, and new orders in Europe automatically include these improvements.
