Kia has unveiled the Kia EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show and this marks the global debut of Kia’s sixth dedicated electric vehicle and more importantly, it introduces what Kia calls a new “gateway” to electric mobility.
The Kia EV2 is a compact B-segment electric SUV, created mainly for city life but flexible enough for everyday family use. Kia revealed it under the theme “The Power of Firsts”, highlighting that this car is meant to be a first EV for many buyers.

According to Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia, the EV2 is all about making electric cars feel spacious, capable, and emotionally rewarding, without being complicated or intimidating for new users.
Design
Despite its compact size, the EV2 looks confident and modern. Designed under Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, it combines clean lines with a strong SUV stance. Features like upright proportions, pronounced wheel arches, vertical lighting elements, and Kia’s Star Map lighting signature give it a bold road presence. The EV2 GT-Line adds extra style with sportier bumpers, unique wheels, and body-coloured details, aimed at buyers who want a more adventurous and premium look.
Interior
From the inside, Kia describes the EV2’s cabin as a “Picnic Box”. Even though it’s the smallest EV in Kia’s lineup, the interior feels surprisingly open and flexible.
The dashboard houses a panoramic wide display, made up of a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 5-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Performance
The EV2 will be offered with two battery options which are 42.2 kWh and 61.0 kWh, with an expected driving range of up to 448 km (WLTP). Fast charging allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 29-30 minutes, depending on the version.
It also includes beginner-friendly EV features like EV Route Planner, Plug & Charge, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which lets the car power external devices.
Safety, Tech and Comfort
The EV2 comes packed with advanced safety features such as Front Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Kia has also added emotional touches like a friendly “HELLO :)” welcome message and a “HAVE A NICE DAY” goodbye when you exit the car.
More Performance EVs
Alongside the EV2, Kia also revealed performance-focused models like the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT, and EV5 GT. These GT models feature dual-motor all-wheel drive, sport-tuned suspension, and special driving modes, showing that Kia is serious about making electric cars fun as well as practical.
What’s Next?
Production of the Kia EV2 will begin in early 2026, with standard, long-range and GT-Line versions rolling out through the year. With the EV2, Kia is clearly aiming to make electric cars more accessible, emotional, and city-friendly, especially for first-time EV buyers.
