JSW MG Motor India is set launch the MG Majestor in India on April 20, with prices to be announced the same day. That matters because this isn’t just another SUV launch, it signals MG’s intent to move further up the value chain in the full-size segment. On paper, the update is simple: a new three-row SUV joins the lineup. But the positioning is more deliberate. The Majestor is expected to sit above the MG Gloster which basically indicates a push towards a more premium, feature-led offering. This isn’t about filling a gap. It’s about expanding the brand presence.
What The MG Majestor Will Offer
The MG Majestor will build on the Gloster’s foundation which means a ladder-frame chassis and a diesel powertrain remain central to the package. MG Majestor comes with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo
diesel engine producing 217 hp. It is also equipped with the M-HUB 4X4 Suite as well as a Smart 4X4 Command Centre that lends the advanced four-wheel-drive capability to the model.
Talking about driving modes, you can switch between Auto 2H, 4H as well as 4L modes. The system can automatically toggle between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive whenever required. But you can also manually change between modes. There are about 10 off-road modes with dedicated terrain modes like Normal, Snow, Sand and Rock.
Moving ahead, there is first-in-segment triple differential lock which basically helps in maintaining traction on rough terrain. The M-Crawl low-speed off-road assist system is there to make off-roading fun. The water wading capacity stands at 810 mm which means the SUV can tackle flooded roads and streams easily.

Why This Launch Matters For Indian Buyers
Here’s the shift: MG is no longer just competing on value, it’s testing how far its premium appeal can stretch. The Majestor is expected to be priced above the Gloster, which currently starts at Rs 38.33 lakh and goes up to Rs 43.16 lakh (ex-showroom). That places it in a tighter and more competitive bracket where buyers are less price-sensitive but more brand-conscious.
For Indian buyers, this creates an alternative to established full-size SUVs without stepping into luxury-brand territory. The appeal will depend on how convincingly MG can balance size, features and perceived quality.
There’s also a practical angle. If production and supply are handled efficiently, MG could avoid the long waiting periods that often affect this segment. The April 20 price reveal will ultimately determine whether the Majestor becomes a niche offering or a serious disruptor.
