The Sierra is undeniably one of the most nostalgic nameplates in the history of the Indian automotive industry. Born in the 1990s, the car was recently reimagined for the ICE version. Now, it is all set to adorn the electric badge, becoming the first Sierra to do so. For a new generation of buyers who grew up hearing stories about the original Sierra, the electric era seems enticing because it opens the door for sustainable mobility solutions. Here are 5 things you need to know about the upcoming Sierra EV.
Design
Looks Like The ICE Sierra, With Some EV Styling Cues
Tata has already shown a glimpse of the Sierra EV (through a teaser during the ICE version launch), though the full model is yet to make its official debut. Given its EV version, and not
a separate model, Tata hasn't tried to reinvent the wheel here and has retained the design cues found on the ICE model. The upright stance, flat bonnet, and boxy proportions are all present. However, the Sierra EV gets relocated headlamps (on the bumper, compared to the grille on ICE), a closed front panel, and a body-coloured Tata badge.
Battery & Range
Up To 500 km On A Single Charge
The Sierra EV is expected to be offered with 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options, similar to its platform-mate - the Harrier EV. The range of the electrified SUV will likely be between 450 and 500 kilometres on a full charge. Fast charging support is also expected.
Platform & Performance
Based On Tata's Most Advanced EV Architecture
The Sierra EV is said to ride on the homegrown automaker's Acti.ev+ platform. The skateboard architecture is capable of accommodating multiple battery sizes and drivetrain layouts. The same platform currently underpins Tata's majority of models in the EV family, and claims to offer a level of engineering maturity that first-generation EV platforms didn't have. Although Tata has not made any announcements, the Sierra EV is expected to embrace a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup in higher variants.
Interior & Features
A Triple-Screen Cabin That Means Business
The most popular layout - a triple-screen one - comprising a digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment display, as well as a dedicated passenger-side screen - can make its way into the Sierra EV. The electrified SUV is also likely to come equipped with a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, and a four-spoke steering wheel.

Price & Launch
Expect A Price Tag Between Rs 20–25 Lakh
Prices for the Sierra EV haven't been announced yet, but it is anticipated that the electric car could be priced within a range of Rs 20–25 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it will sit above the Curvv EV and below the Harrier EV in the company's electric range. The SUV is expected in the second half of 2026. Given that the ICE Sierra has already delivered over 10,000 units and earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, the electric version has a strong launchpad to build on.
