Audi has revealed the new-gen A6 Allroad for the international market, with a bolder identity and a much wider stance. Ever since its launch, the Allroad has always stood for comfort and off-road capability. The fifth-gen version carries on those features now with a performance-oriented RS6 wide-body design. It also debuts a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, adding to its appeal among international buyers. Although Audi India has not announced plans to launch the new A6 Allroad in the country, the model could garner significant interest among luxury buyers looking for a premium wagon with SUV-like functionality.
Audi A6 Allroad Powertrain
The Audi A6 Allroad is available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. The setup consists of a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder
petrol engine (248hp) and a single electric motor (141hp), which produces a total of 362hp and 500Nm. The car uses a 25.9kWh battery, which delivers an electric-only range of up to 95 kilometres (WLTP). Audi says the battery can be fully recharged in around 2.5 hours using an 11 kW AC charger. A familiar 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system is also offered. The engine develops 295hp and 580Nm, while the hybrid setup can briefly provide an additional 24hp when required. Both versions feature Audi's renowned quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard.
The diesel model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, which is a bit faster than the plug-in hybrid version. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h on both variants.
Audi A6 Allroad Wider Design, And Interior Features
Visually, the Allroad's most prominent attraction is its wider body design, which makes it noticeably broader (110mm) than the standard A6 Avant. The muscular proportions, larger alloy wheels, and signature allroad body cladding add to the car's uniqueness and give the wagon a look reminiscent of the high-performance RS6.
Beyond styling, Audi has enhanced its capability with adaptive air suspension, offering a 55mm height adjustment to improve both off-road ability and on-road comfort. Progressive steering and optional all-wheel steering increase agility at low speeds, besides improving stability during highway driving. The increase in ground clearance of 34mm, compared to the Audi A6 Avant, also adds to its strength. Moreover, optimised all-wheel steering, and alloy wheels up to 21 inches add to the commanding presence.
On the inside, the Allroad maintains a modern and practical feature list, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Buyers can also opt for a 10.9-inch passenger display. Other key highlights include premium seats with heating, four-zone climate control, acoustic glass, and a panoramic glass roof.
