Honda Cars India will launch the updated Honda City facelift on May 22, bringing cosmetic revisions, added features and technology upgrades to the midsize sedan. This will be the second facelift for the fifth-generation Honda City. The update comes at a crucial time for Honda because the sedan segment continues facing pressure from SUVs, while rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia have already received major updates. Reports suggest Honda will focus on refreshing the City’s styling and equipment list rather than introducing mechanical changes. The facelift is expected to help keep the sedan competitive until the next-generation model arrives later in the decade.
Exterior Updates Expected To Focus On Fresh Styling
The 2026 Honda City facelift is expected to retain the
current car’s overall silhouette but receive visible changes at the front and rear. Honda may introduce a redesigned grille, revised front bumper, updated LED headlamp signatures along with tweaked taillamp detailing. New alloy wheel designs and additional colour options are also likely.
Industry reports suggest the update will remain evolutionary instead of a complete redesign which is typical for a mid-cycle facelift. Honda is expected to continue with the sedan’s existing dimensions and cabin space, both of which remain important selling points in the midsize sedan category. The City currently measures over 4,500 mm in length and continues to compete against newer-generation rivals offering larger feature lists.
Cabin Could Get More Tech
Inside the cabin, the facelifted City is expected to receive feature additions instead of a major dashboard redesign. Reports also indicate Honda may offer a larger infotainment display, updated software, revised upholstery and improved connected car technology. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are likely to continue.
Honda Sensing ADAS technology is also expected to remain part of the lineup. Features currently available include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking and auto high beam. Honda will also likely add a 360-degree camera.

Petrol And Hybrid Engines Likely To Continue
Mechanically, no major changes are expected. The facelifted City is likely to continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 119.35 hp and 145 Nm and paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
Honda is also expected to retain the City e:HEV strong hybrid variant, which delivers a combined output of around 124 hp through an e-CVT transmission. The hybrid version currently remains one of the few strong hybrid sedans available in India. Exact pricing will be disclosed when the facelift launches on May 22.
