The Toyota Fortuner has become more expensive in India, with Toyota increasing prices by up to Rs 87,000 across the lineup. What’s new is that the price revision now applies to petrol, diesel, 4x2, 4x4, Legender and GR-S variants, making the full-size SUV costlier for buyers across the board. The hike comes into effect immediately and pushes the Fortuner’s ex-showroom price range between Rs 34.76 lakh and Rs 50.46 lakh (ex-showroom). For buyers planning a purchase, this directly affects on-road pricing, especially in metro cities where registration and insurance costs are already high.
Variant-Wise Price Hike Breakdown
Toyota has revised prices differently depending on the variant. The 4x2 petrol automatic and 4x2 diesel manual variants now cost Rs 60,000 more, while the 4x2 diesel automatic sees
a hike of Rs 65,000. The 4x4 diesel manual version has become costlier by Rs 67,000.
The larger revisions are on higher-spec models. The Fortuner 4x4 mild-hybrid diesel automatic and Legender 4x2 diesel automatic have received a Rs 75,000 increase. The Legender 4x4 manual variant is now Rs 78,000 costlier, while the Legender mild-hybrid automatic gets an Rs 83,000 hike. The top-spec GR-S 4x4 automatic records the biggest jump at Rs 87,000, taking its ex-showroom price to Rs 50.46 lakh (ex-showroom).
For buyers, this means the difference in on-road pricing could stretch well beyond Rs 1 lakh in some states once taxes and insurance are recalculated.
Engines, Features And What Remains Unchanged
Mechanically, the Fortuner remains unchanged despite the revision. It continues with the 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engine options, paired with manual and automatic transmissions depending on the variant. Toyota also continues offering both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain configurations.
The mild-hybrid diesel setup remains available on select variants, while the GR-S version continues as the performance-focused top-end trim in the lineup.
What this effectively means is buyers are paying more for the same overall package, as there are no new features, cosmetic changes or mechanical updates linked to this hike.

Buyer Impact And Market Context
The Fortuner continues to occupy a unique position in India’s premium SUV market, where demand for body-on-frame SUVs remains strong despite rising prices. Models such as the Legender and GR-S have also helped Toyota maintain higher-value sales in the segment.
However, repeated price revisions are steadily increasing ownership costs. In several cities, top-end Fortuner variants are now moving significantly beyond earlier pricing thresholds once on-road costs are included.
The latest revision also reflects a broader trend across the auto industry where manufacturers are increasing prices incrementally throughout the year instead of waiting for major annual updates. For customers, this means purchase timing and variant selection are becoming increasingly important in the premium SUV segment.
