Siddharth Jain, Executive Director of the INOX Group, has become the first Indian businessman to take delivery of a Model Y. Jain received the vehicle on September 15, 2025. Jain announced the delivery on X, calling it the fulfilment of a long-held dream dating back to his 2017 visit to Tesla’s Fremont factory.

Addressing Elon Musk directly, he wrote that India Inc’s first Tesla delivery marked a personal and professional milestone. Tesla officially opened its first Indian showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex
on July 15, 2025. This space doubles as an experience centre, allowing prospective buyers to test the tech on Model Y. The Model Y is available in two trims: Rear-Wheel Drive (Rs 59.89 lakh ex-showroom) and Long Range All-Wheel Drive (Rs 67.89 lakh ex-showroom), with on-road prices in Mumbai peaking near Rs 69.15 lakh.

The first Model Y delivered from the Mumbai showroom actually went to Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. Jain’s acquisition follows close behind. Tesla has also expanded its footprint with a second showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity, which opened on August 11, 2025. Despite premium pricing and high import duties, Tesla’s arrival is widely seen as a turning point for India’s EV market.
