Ola and Uber have gained a new rival in India with the launch of Green SM, a fully fleet-owned electric mobility company. It is backed by Vingroup, the parent company of VinFast, which currently offers the VF 6 and VF 7 e-SUVs alongside the VF MP7 MPV in India. Vietnamese electric ride-hailing company has commenced its services in the Delhi-NCR as of now. However, there are plans to expand the network to other regions as well. The ride-hailing company stands out from both established competitors, Ola and Uber, by operating an entirely company-managed, 100% electric vehicle fleet rather than acting as a traditional marketplace aggregator. Green SM has become one of the most recent international players to bet on India's growing demand for cleaner
transportation solutions. Following operations in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines, India is Green SM's fifth global market.
How Green SM Is Different From Ola And Uber?
Unlike traditional ride-hailing platforms such as Ola and Uber that connect passengers with driver-owned vehicles, Green SM operates a company-controlled fleet. Drivers are employed directly by the company. This enables it to maintain tighter control over vehicle maintenance, service quality, as well as safety.
Operations Begin In Delhi-NCR
Green SM has started services across major parts of Delhi-NCR, including New Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. The company plans to rapidly expand its presence across other major Indian cities. Interested customers can use the Green SM mobile application to book the ride. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Vehicles can also be hailed directly on the street in operational zones. To attract early adopters, the company is offering discounts of up to Rs 250 on app-based bookings between June 5 and June 11, 2026.
Focus On Passenger Safety
The most prominent highlight of the new electric mobility ride-hailing solution in India is its 'Secure-to-Safe' (S2S) safety ecosystem. Every vehicle is equipped with road-facing dashcams and in-cabin cameras with infrared sensors. The system uses AI-based monitoring to detect distracted driving, fatigue, and unsafe driving behaviour. There are also Multiple SOS buttons installed inside the vehicle, which enable passengers to contact a central command centre during emergencies.

Green SM Fleet: VinFast Limo Green
Vietnamese company's fleet in India is backed by the VinFast Limo Green, a purpose-built seven-seater electric MPV designed for ride-hailing operations. It uses a 60.13 kWh battery paired with an electric motor that churns out a maximum power of 201bhp and peak torque of 280 Nm. It has claimed a range of up to 517 kilometres on a single charge. The battery also supports 80 kW DC fast charging, which allows for a 10% to 70% charge in around 30 minutes.
