From September 22, 2025, the GST rate for motorcycles above 350cc was increased to 40%, sparking expectations of price hikes across premium performance bikes. On the brighter side, Aprilia, via Piaggio India, has officially announced that its 457cc models - RS 457 and Tuono 457 will not see any ex-showroom price increases despite the revised tax slab. The bikemaker is absorbing the incremental GST cost on these motorcycles. Moreover, Aprilia has announced value additions and special offers on the RS 457 that will effectively neutralise the impact of the tax hike to ensure that both models continue with their previous lower pre-GST rates — at a time of high pricing changes relating to taxes, it brings stability for buyers.

What Changed Under GST 2.0
The 56th GST Council meeting revised the tax structure for motorcycles. The new GST rate for two-wheelers above 350cc is 40% against approximately 28% plus cess, and is currently effective. Models below 350cc have observed a downward revision in taxes, while bikes above this displacement are likely to get dearer because of the new adjustment.
How Aprilia Kept Prices Unchanged
To ensure no uptick in pricing, Aprilia has completely taken in the hike for its Tuono 457 and RS 457 models. The prices of Tuono 457 stand at Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra), and similarly, RS 457 continues to be offered at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.35 lakh, with benefits valued at over Rs 35,000. These include a Rs 15,000 absorption of the tax increase plus a complimentary quick shifter worth Rs 20,500.

Impacts And Takeaways For Buyers
What this means for buyers is that they can actually dodge the much-feared sticker shock with the GST hike. By opting not to pass on GST 2.0’s higher rate, Aprilia lets buyers of its RS 457 and Tuono 457 models enjoy cost stability too-with added accessories as well. This may put indirect pressure on other competitors within the 350cc+ segment to carry out such strategies also, especially during the festive season when sensitivity towards prices usually increases.
