Hero Vida has launched a comprehensive ownership services package just in time for the festive period. With this, the brand aims to boost confidence among buyers of its electric offerings. The new package includes
extended warranties for up to 8 years on both battery and motor, along with buyback assurance plans, round-the-clock support, and optional battery subscription models. According to Hero, these services will reduce the total cost of ownership, hence, making EVs more accessible through flexibility and financial assurance to the customers. Vida is rolling out these offers across its nationwide network.

What's Included In The New Plans
The plans include an extended warranty for major drivetrain components apart from the standard term warranty. There is also a buyback scheme under which Vida guarantees a residual value (up to 67.5 per cent) after certain years. This plan further introduces Battery as a Service (BaaS) optional offering through which owners can separately lease the battery, and thus reduce upfront costs. Lastly, Vida says it will provide round-the-clock technical assistance and customer care support to EV owners.
Why It Matters
Battery degradation, resale value uncertainty, and hidden ownership costs are the major concerns for buyers of electric vehicles. Hero Vida tackles these by offering guaranteed buyback options and extended warranties. Also, under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, there is a lower initial investment that allows the barrier to entry to be reduced for potential buyers. For a competitive EV ecosystem, these services may become differentiators in the market where rivals like Ola, Ather, and TVS are also vying for trust.

What Owners Should Watch Out For
Though Vida’s new plans do indeed offer better layers of protection, it is advised for buyers to keenly review the terms. Assured buyback values will now be based on usage as well as the condition of the battery, and market fluctuations. Extended warranty, if any, may also include annual maintenance. If opting for Battery-as-a-Service, then one should compare this lifecycle cost with owning the battery outright. Users should ask for proper documentation before making a booking so that dealerships have to present all charges, eligibility criteria, and conditions upfront.
