In a big achievement for India’s auto industry, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has recorded its highest-ever exports in the financial year 2025-26. The company exported over 4.47 lakh vehicles, showing a strong growth of more than 34% compared to last year.
India-Made Cars Are In Demand Globally
Maruti Suzuki is already the largest car company in India, but now it is also becoming a global player. With this performance, the company is likely to remain India’s number one car exporter for the fifth year in a row. The company exports many types of cars, including small cars, sedans, SUVs, and even commercial vehicles. This helps it meet the needs of customers in different countries.
Entry Into Electric Vehicles
One of the biggest highlights this year
is the start of exports for Maruti’s first electric car, the e Vitara. This is an important step because electric vehicles are the future of mobility.
The e Vitara is made in India at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which is now a global production hub. The car is already being exported to Europe and other markets. This shows that India is not just making regular cars, but also advanced electric vehicles for the world.

Strong Performance In India
Maruti Suzuki also performed very well in the domestic market. In March 2026 alone, the company sold 225,251 vehicles. Out of this, 169,428 units were sold in India, while 47,040 units were exported. For the full year, total sales reached 2.42 million units. Domestic sales stood at 1.86 million units, which is the highest ever for the company. This is also the third year in a row that Maruti Suzuki has crossed 2 million total sales.
Which Cars Are Selling The Most
Maruti’s growth comes from a wide range of cars. Small cars like Swift, Baleno, and WagonR are popular because they are affordable and fuel-efficient. SUVs like Brezza and Grand Vitara are gaining demand as people prefer bigger cars. Family cars like Ertiga and XL6 continue to sell well. At the same time, commercial vehicles like Super Carry support small businesses.
Maruti Suzuki’s export growth shows that India is becoming a major hub for car manufacturing. More cars made in India are now reaching international markets. Maruti Suzuki’s record performance is not just about high numbers. It shows how the company is growing both in India and globally. With strong exports and entry into electric vehicles, the company is preparing for the future while continuing to lead the market.
