As electric vehicles slowly move from being a novelty to a practical daily choice, one challenge continues to worry buyers is ‘charging availability’. Addressing this concern, Kia India has announced a major expansion of its public EV charging ecosystem, taking the total number of accessible charging points to over 15,000 across India.
This expansion comes through a partnership with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), more than 3,000 BPCL-operated EV charging points have been added to Kia’s K-Charge platform, which will significantly strengthen the brand’s charging footprint nationwide. What is K-Charge and why it matters?
Kia’s K-Charge is a digital platform designed to make EV ownership simpler and less stressful. Available through the MyKia mobile app and Kia India’s official website, K-Charge allows users to locate nearby public charging stations, get navigation directions, and make payments.
Instead of juggling multiple charging apps, cards or networks, K-Charge brings everything together in one
place, as with BPCL’s chargers now integrated, users gain access to charging points located at fuel stations, highways and urban hubs, making both city driving and long-distance travel far more convenient.

Charging infrastructure and EV confidence
In India, range anxiety is real, the fear of running out of charge remains one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption. Kia’s expanded network is aimed precisely at easing this concern. By crossing the 15,000 public charging mark, Kia is offering its EV customers greater confidence to plan longer journeys without worrying about where to plug in next.
This move also aligns well with the government’s broader push towards clean and sustainable mobility, where public-private partnerships are playing a key role in building charging infrastructure at scale.
Kia’s growing EV presence in India
The charging network expansion supports Kia’s expanding electric vehicle lineup in India, as the company currently offers the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which is manufactured locally, alongside its global electric models such as the Kia EV6 and the flagship Kia EV9. And as Kia continues to introduce new EVs and technologies, having a reliable and widespread charging ecosystem becomes just as important as the vehicles themselves.
Commenting on the development, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Kia India, said that convenience and confidence are crucial for EV adoption. He added that the partnership with BPCL helps make EV ownership more practical and stress-free, allowing customers to plan journeys with greater assurance.
With this expansion, Kia India is not just selling electric cars, but it is building the ecosystem needed to support them. As charging becomes easier to find and use, electric vehicles move one step closer to becoming a mainstream choice for Indian buyers.
