The Indian automobile market had a blockbuster month in October 2025 due to the festive season and the recent GST reduction on vehicles. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), India produced 28,01,412 vehicles in October 2025. This includes passenger cars, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycles.
Passenger Vehicles Hit Highest Dispatch Ever
Passenger vehicles, which include popular hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs recorded 4,60,739 units sold in October. That is a 17.2% growth compared to October 2024 which makes it the highest ever dispatch to dealerships for any October till date.
SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said that the strong performance was mainly due to festive buying and lower GST rates, which became effective from September 22. Despite some logistical
challenges in moving vehicles across the country, demand remained very high.
Two-Wheelers
India’s two-wheeler industry also posted impressive numbers. In October 2025, 22,10,727 units of two-wheelers were sold, growing 2.1% over the previous year. Scooters stole the spotlight with a massive 14.3% growth, showing rising demand among city commuters and families. Motorcycles, however, dipped by 4%, possibly due to rural market fluctuations.

Three-Wheelers
Three-wheelers, which include passenger autos, goods carriers and electric rickshaws, recorded 81,288 units sold, which marked a 5.9% growth. Passenger carriers grew the most with 7.6%, while goods carriers rose slightly by 2.8%. Surprisingly, electric rickshaws saw a 27.2% drop, indicating slower adoption or increased competition in this space.

Market After Festive Season & GST Cut
Industry experts say that the combination of the festival season and reduced GST rates played a major role in boosting sales and registrations. More customers preferred buying new vehicles as discounts, offers, and tax benefits made purchases more attractive.
The October 2025 numbers reflect the growing confidence among Indian buyers. With more new models coming soon and EV adoption rising steadily, the auto industry is expected to remain upbeat in the coming months.
